Warning on ice in Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire County Council park rangers and maintenance staff are appealing for people visiting water features and attractions within the country to exercise care and not go near if they are ice covered.
Furnace Pond, Swiss Valley Reservoir, Dafen Pond, Old Castle Pond, Llanelli North Dock and Swiss valley Reservoir have attracting a lot of youngsters who have been walking, skating and have snowball wars on the ice.
Two youngsters have fallen through the ice at Llanelli North Dock and Sandy Water and escaped injury because they found themselves in shallow water. But there are huge dangers associated with the sites with reservoir depths of up to 60feet. With Wednesday’s snow on top of frozen surfaces the water features will; be a potential danger to the public and their pets especially as they start to thaw out towards the end of the week.
