Tywi Valley contractor targets annual UK Fencing Championships

Tywi Valley fencing contractor Gary Davies doesn’t sit on any fences; he takes pride in making quality fences of all descriptions.
And with some awards already under his belt, he is now planning an assault on the seventh Annual UK Fencing Championships.
Gary’s popular business, Dyfed Fencing, based in Capel Isaac near Llandeilo, has been asked to compete at this year’s Driffield Show in East Yorkshire.
The Driffield Show is the regular venue for the UK Fencing Championships, which will be held on July 22 this year.
“It’s the place where the best of the best in the world of quality fencing in the UK go to compete,” said Gary.
“It’s something of an honour to be asked to compete and there is a lot at stake - a £1000 cash prize and the prestige that goes with being judged the best fencing operator in the land.”
Gary has been a fencing contractor for more than 25 years and has previously visited the Driffield Show to observe the competition.
He said: We are under no illusions about the test ahead as this is the UK Fencing Championships, an event which attracts quality operators from all over the country.
“The event will be a four hour challenge and will include many styles of manual fence laying.
“Accuracy, speed, strength and stamina will most definitely be needed in order to stand a chance of being in the final line up.”
The team at Dyfed Fencing are no strangers to awards, as many of their outstanding projects have previously been nominated due to their eye for fine craftsmanship and creativity.
Dyfed Fencing employs two members of staff that are experienced and committed in their field of work and Gary has a wide variety of fencing experience in agricultural, security, domestic and industrial construction.
The company has carried out work for the old Forestry Commission (winning three Gold Awards), the Countryside Council for Wales, the Wildlife Trust, county council recreational footpaths, private forestries, the Woodlands Trust and The National Trust.
Gary and his team carries out every conceivable kind of fencing project as well as groundworks for commercial and public sector customers across South Wales and further afield.
He added: “We have a wide range of customers. From organisations such as Natural Resource Wales to homeowners. We never do a bad job and, as a result, around 90 per cent of our new business comes from word of mouth.
“We’ve seen a big increase in demand for security fencing in recent times especially from the commercial and public sectors. Businesses are increasingly aware of the need to keep their facilities secure especially within heavily rural areas.
“Deer fencing has been another growth area in recent years,” added Gary who is a member of Endeavour, the Llanelli-based Business Network International BNI networking group.
“Every now and then it’s nice to get recognition for the work you’ve carried out. A simple thank you from the client often suffices but the three gold awards from the Forestry Commission were a particular highlight for Dyfed Fencing.”
From culvert piping to excavator work, post and rail to drainage works, you’ll find Gary and his team fully prepared to throw their hand and resources at a variety of work.
“It’s a pleasure seeing the finished job. Whether it’s new agricultural fencing or a complex site clearance, there’s a lot of satisfaction to be gained from seeing a job done professionally.
“There’s also a lot of joy to be had from working within such stunning countryside in Wales.”
