Andy Fairweather Low will be headlining Jazz@Llandeilo

Andy Fairweather Low, one of the UK’s best-known guitarists, will be headlining Jazz@Llandeilo 2015.
Fairweather Low will arrive at the fourth annual jazz festival in Llandeilo (July3-5) hot on the heels of landmark concerts with Eric Clapton at the Royal Albert Hall, London.
The festival, centred around the Evan-Evans brewery ‘tap’ pub, The White Horse Inn, continues to grow every year.
This year, the festival will boast three different stages and more than 30 different acts.
“It is now a fixture on the jazz music festival calendar for the UK and is hugely popular with festival-goers and musicians,” said James Buckley of the Evan-Evans brewery.
“It is a wonderful showpiece occasion to put Llandeilo on the map. Andy Fairweather Low is regarded as music royalty – an international artist with a wonderful reputation. He is the headline act, but there will also be a lot more quality entertainment during an action-packed weekend.”
Fairweather Low has established a reputation as a peerless musician both at home and abroad, having worked with some of legendary figures in the music industry, including The Who and Eric Clapton.
He has a truly unique voice and a reputation as a master-craftsman on guitar.
Born in Ystrad Mynach, he originally came to fame as vocalist and leader of the pop group Amen Corner. They had four successive Top 10 hits in the Uk singles chart, including the No 1 (If Paradise Is) Half as Nice.
From the 1970s onwards, Fairweather Low became the ultimate Guitarist to the Stars, building an extraordinary reputation that has endured to this day.
The Welshman has been a stalwart of Eric Clapton’s band whilst appearing alongside a galaxy of Rock legends such as George Harrison, Roger Waters and Bob Dylan and Blues greats such BB King, Otis Rush and Buddy Guy.
His solo career also saw plenty of chart success, particularly with the memorable ‘Wide-eyed and legless’.
In the late 1970s and 1980s he worked for numerous artists, as a session musician, performing as a backing vocalist and guitarist on albums by Roy Wood, Leo Sayer, Albion Band, Gerry Rafferty, Helen Watson and Richard and Linda Thompson.
Fairweather Low has released many solo albums to great critical acclaim and has developed a reputation for engaging live shows illustrating his musical autobiography and influences with his much acclaimed band The Low Riders, featuring Dave Bronze on bass and vocals, drummer Paul Beavis and Nick Pentelow on saxes and clarinet.
Jazz@Llandeilo 2015 organiser James Buckley said: “Without a doubt, Andy Fairweather Low is the biggest name so far to grace our growing festival. He’s a class act and we will be announcing other class acts shortly as the countdown begins to our jazz festival.
“Whatever the weather in July, this is going to be one magnificent party. With bands from all over Wales and Europe, we have a truly International feel. Tickets are already selling well.
“Tickets are wonderful value for money, with a weekend adult ticket costing just £10.

The Low Riders
Dave Bronze (Bass & Vocals)
Since his early semi-pro days gigging around the south-east of England, Dave Bronze has played around the world in just about every place that music is heard. In a career spanning almost three decades, Dave has appeared, on record or on stage, alongside such household names as The Art Of Noise, Belinda Carlisle, Paul Carrack, Eric Clapton, Roger Daltrey, Bo Diddley, Duane Eddy, Andy Fairweather Low, Dr. Feelgood, Bryan Ferry, Nik Kershaw, Jeff Lynne, Paul McCartney, Billy Preston, Procol Harum, Ringo Starr and Robin Trower. He can be seen playing alongside Eric Clapton in the Live in Hyde Park DVD, and the multi-platinum, Grammy award-winning tribute to George Harrison, Concert For George. Although touring is a major part of Dave's life, he is also active as a record producer and songwriter.
Paul Beavis (Drums)
Paul Beavis has been playing drums professionally for 25 years, during which time he has worked with Judie Tzuke, Robert Fripp, Russ Ballard, Leo Sayer, Thea Gillmore, Andy Summers, Toyah, Lisa Stansfield, Robbie McIntosh, Terry Britten, The Waterboys, Alex Parks and Sandi Thom. Paul was a member of Andy's band for the 2007 Tour.
Nick Pentelow (Sax)
In 1978, after a stint on the high seas playing on the ‘floating Butlins’ SS Oriana he toured and recorded with The Steve Gibbons Band. And as soon as he was based in London, he worked with Roger Chapman’s ‘Shortlist’ and then Chas and Dave. Nick has played with numerous blues bands including Juice on the Loose and Diz and the Doormen and backed visiting musicians such as Dr. John, Doug Sahm, Augie Meyers and Big Jay McNeely. Whilst working with Gary Moore, he played alongside BB King, Albert King and Albert Collins. Over the years, he has worked continuously as a session musician, and is currently the main sax player in the West End production of Blood Brothers, (when he’s not playing with Andy). Recently, he has gone full circle and formed a band with saxist Mike Burney and other Wizzard veterans called The Old Horns Band!
