Council chair raises £12,000 for charities
The Chairman of Carmarthenshire County Council has raised more than £12,000 for his chosen charities.
Cllr Ivor Jackson picked Macmillan Cancer Support, the Alzheimer’s Society and Plant Dewi, which works with children and their families in the Diocese of St David’s, as his charities for his year in office.
The money has been raised through a number of events, including a Curry Night in Masala Restaurant in Llanelli. The evening raised £438 from an auction, £549 from a raffle, £480 from ticket sales for the meal and there were also donations totalling £144.
Other events include taking part in the Walrus Dip at Cefn Sidan on New Year’s Day and a Charity Concert at Ysgol Pantycelyn in Llandovery featuring Llandovery Male Voice Choir with Gwawr Edwards and Aled Wynne Davies.
