New clamp on nudists at Cefn Sidan beach

Police and Carmarthenshire Council are to crack down on naturists at Cefn Sidan, Pembrey.
Although signs at the entrance to the Blue Flag beach and literature given out at Pembrey Country Park clearly state “Nudity is NOT permitted,” websites and social media opportunities have been promoting the beach to naturists.
More than 40 nudists have been seen at one time - men and women - getting an all over tan in the recent scorching weather on the beach. Many have been frolicking and cooling off in wreck pools in view of and upsetting families walking and cycling on the hard sands.
After complaints from the public in the run up to Easter the message from the council and the police is that naturists will not be tolerated.
County parks manager Neil Perry said: “The Council’s position towards Naturism on Cefn Sidan has not changed since 1998.
“We do not encourage nudism on the Council owned beach and to that end we have ‘Nudity is NOT permitted’ text on the beach section of the map on our main Park map which is handed out to visitors on arrival at the Park. Signs at the beach entrances carry the same message.
“Park staff will take appropriate action when complaints are received about any inappropriate activity taking place on our beach.
“We work closely with Dyfed Powys Police on this type of complaint and they released the following statement in conjunction with the Council after a incident on our beach during the summer of 2009: ‘All the partners need to be working together to show nudism will not be tolerated and anyone breaching the rules will be dealt with in an appropriate manner. The public need to know that we will respond to any incidents reported.’”
