57 lucky ale fans get to be beer tasters!

It was billed as the best job opportunity ever - Official Beer Taster!
And it came as no surprise to bosses at the award-winning Evan-Evans Brewery that applications flooded in.
The lucky winners of ‘taster’ jobs with Evan-Evans have now been chosen and the brewery has pulled the shutter down on applications.
“The response was massive,” said Simon Buckley, chief executive of the Evan-Evans Brewery Group.
“We know that our beers are hugely popular and that they have a very local ‘fan club’, but we were overwhelmed with the response.
“The quality of the response was such that we revised our earlier views and extended the number of people we admitted to the ‘taster’ project from 30 to 57.
“We now have 57 ‘tasters’ on board at Evan-Evans and we have just announced that we will be holding two tasting weekends in Cardiff on May 7 and 14.”
The beer tasters will be responsible for helping shape the company’s new beer brands in 2012.
Mr Buckley added: “This is a landmark year for us at Evan-Evans and we wanted to do something special to mark the occasion.
“This year sees the Buckley family celebrate 245 years of family brewing and Evan-Evans has now become the leading specialist cask ale brewer in Wales.
“The company has set out an ambitious plan to double in size in 2012 with the launching of the new Archers brands and the development of a new organic bottled beer range.
“The tasters will help shape our future bottle beer range.
“They will receive free beer as a reward and will have regular sampling sessions at our brewery in Llandeilo. Samples will also be sent to their homes for independent ‘blind’ tasting.
“This has to be one of the best jobs on offer for 2012 for devoted beer drinkers.”

Evan-Evans has a reputation for brewing the highest quality cask-conditioned beers. Evan-Evans is Wales’s largest specialist brewer of cask ale. The company started brewing in 2004 to produce specialist cask ales for the Welsh and national guest ale market.
The brewing heritage of the Buckley family stretches back to the early 19th century after the Rev James Buckley married the eldest daughter of Henry Child who had founded Childs Brewery in Llanelli. It was set up to slake the thirst of the town’s tinworkers, who were rapidly increasing in numbers.
Evan-Evans was founded in Llandeilo in 2003 and began brewing in 2004. It is named after William Evan-Evans who married into the family four generations ago
