Grand Nativity Experience set for Parish Church in Llanelli

Llanelli is set to welcome Christmas in big and dramatic style as the town presents a full-scale re-enactment of the Nativity with massed choirs, orchestra, narration, actors and even livestock – all at the heart of the town.
Under the creative baton of conductor John Hywel Williams, the massed voices of the Llanelli Choral Society and Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers and the new Hywel Octet will join forces with the symphonic sounds of the British Sinfonietta Orchestra, award winning soprano Rhiannon Llewellyn, organist Huw Tregelles Williams, narrator Jeremy Hywel and members from the town’s acclaimed Llanelli Youth Theatre.
‘The Miracle of Christmas’, a unique first-of-its kind performance for the town, will be held in and around the spiritual heart of Llanelli in the beautiful candle lit St Elli Parish Church on Saturday 28th November as the town’s official civic welcome to the Christmas Season.
The wonderful music of Handel’s Messiah, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, Albinoni’s Adagio for Organ and Strings, Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, O Holy Night and international and classical music and carols will provide the musical backdrop, blended with narratives of the Nativity and full costumed biblical characters re-enacting the spiritual event.
Outside, the church will be surrounded with burning torches, biblical characters and also livestock including donkeys and sheep.
“This is won’t be just another Christmas concert but an immersive and emotional spiritual experience of Christmas”, explains Margaret Daniel, Chairman of Llanelli Choral Society. ”There is great excitement building at the creativity of the event and this is already reflected in the early demand for tickets.”
“To bring together theatre, music, narrative, actors, livestock, choirs and orchestra together for this re-enactment is exciting and will give the town a unique and spiritual start to the Christmas season”, said conductor John Hywel.
Due to big demand for tickets already, an early ticket waiting list is already in place. Tickets £15 and available from Isabelle Scott-James on 07795 236807.
The Miracle of Christmas will be held on Saturday 28th November as a magical night to welcome the season of Christmas.
