Leisure discounts for Armed Forces personnel and veterans

Armed Forces personnel and veterans can enjoy discounted use of leisure centres and swimming pools in Carmarthenshire.
Activities include use of the fitness studios, swimming pools, classes and racquet sports.
The move has been introduced by the county council as part of its commitment to the Armed Forces Community Covenant.
The Covenant, launched in January, aims to encourage support for the Armed Forces community working and living in Carmarthenshire, and to recognise and remember the sacrifices they have made.
The council, along with 27 partners across the public, private and third sector, signed up to the Covenant.
The leisure discount scheme is one of the ways the authority is supporting members of the Armed Forces, whether serving or veterans, who live or work in Carmarthenshire.
The offer includes a free leisure saver card, up to 40 per cent discount on all activities during the day and weekends, and 10 per cent in the evenings.
There is free swimming at all public times in the council run swimming pools, plus a bronze membership swimming direct debit of £15 per month starting in June. The family Fusion £365 offer is also available.
Armed Forces Champion Cllr Kevin Madge said: “We are committed to the Covenant and to supporting the Armed Forces personnel.
“Our leisure discount scheme is one of the practical ways we can provide support and honour this commitment.”
Armed Forces personnel and veterans need to apply for the Leisure Saver Card to get the discounts.
Forms are available online or in leisure centres, they need to be given to receptionists along with a Forces Identity Card or Veterans Card.
The British Legion can produce copies for anyone who does not have their papers.
