Ferryside waste amnesty a big success

Residents got rid of more than three tonnes of rubbish in an amnesty held in Ferryside.
The council’s waste and recycling section organised the event to reduce fly-tipping and encourage people to recycle.
Approximately 200 tyres were taken along as well as various electrical appliances, unwanted furniture and other general waste.
Of all the waste collected, 60 per cent was able to be recycled.
Executive Board Member for Street Scene Cllr Colin Evans said: “Hopefully the amnesty will have encouraged people to do the right thing and dispose of their rubbish in a responsible manner.
“It is also important we recycle as much as we possible as we can no longer keep on sending waste to landfill.”
