Say it with flowers at Aberglasney

It’s a case of ‘say it with flowers’ with a difference for Mothering Sunday at Aberglasney House and Gardens in the picturesque Tywi Valley.
Mums are being offered free admission for both the Saturday and the Sunday of Mothering Sunday weekend (Saturday and Sunday, March 17 and 18).
“We all know mums are special, so we thought we’d do something special for the Mothering Sunday weekend at the gardens,” said Aberglasney chief executive Roger Evans, pictured above.
“It’s a special way of saying it with flowers as they will get to enjoy the glorious spring displays we have here at Aberglasney.
“There’s plenty to see in our historic heritage gardens and if sons and daughters want to pick up some other extra-special presents there are plenty of gifts and plants available at our shop.”
“Most people like to tie-in a stroll around the gardens with a visit to the shop,” said shop manager Vanessa Bolton.
“But, in this very busy age, time is precious and we appreciate that many people just want to browse the goods in our well-stocked shop. So, they will be delighted to learn that you can visit the shop for free all year round!
“The obvious choices on Mother’s Day can centre on plants and flowers and we have everything you need in stock.
“For those looking for something different, our range of gifts is quite exceptional and you’ll find plenty of things at Aberglasney that you won’t find anywhere else.
“Mums get free admission for the Mother’s Day weekend, but the obvious present is the gift of a season ticket to Aberglasney!”
One of the bargains on offer at the moment is Graham Rankin’s book called The Flowering of Aberglasney.
Mr Rankin, the former director at Aberglasney House and Gardens, published two versions of his colourful, informative and entertaining book charting the transformation of one of the great heritage gardens of Wales.
There is a dark green boxed special edition (signed by Mr Rankin and numbered) reduced from its original price of £35 to a bargain £16.95.
There is also a white-covered version of the book reduced in price from its original £30 to just £12.95. The offers on the books last only as long as stocks last, so the advice is to get to the shop and buy one quickly. You can also buy online at the Aberglasney website.
Mothering Sunday weekend also promises to be very busy at the popular café and restaurant at Aberglasney.
The café and restaurant is run by Chris Flack, who will be doing a traditional carvery on Mothering Sunday.
“We will be having two sittings as last year we were fully booked. The sittings are likely to be between 11.45am and 1.20pm and 1.30pm and 3.10pm.
Booking will be essential - Please contact the café on 01558 668131.
The downstairs café will be open, but there will be a restricted menu of sandwiches, baguettes, plain or toasted, soup, roll and cheese, and ratatouille with bread and cheese topping.
