Carmarthenshire food producers on show
Carmarthenshire food producers have been showcasing their delights to the nation.
The county’s tastiest treats have been dished up at the high profile 2010 Food and Drink Expo.
Many generated strong business leads with projected sales contracts of £130,000.
Food development officers say the exhibition has brought another boost to Carmarthenshire – which is building a reputation as a first class food producing region.
The show, which was held at the NEC in Birmingham, is one of the largest UK food and drink trade exhibitions.
Visitors from across the country were able to sample some of Carmarthenshire’s acclaimed food and drink.
Food and drink producers displayed their wares at a prime position stand under the banner of Carmarthenshire Food and Drink supported by Wales The True Taste.
The County Council’s Food Development Officer Barry Davies works closely with the companies on show.
He said: “It was the perfect event for buyers and suppliers to negotiate face to face and develop long term relationships.
“The producers had a very busy few days with a good selection of leads generated.
“We are continually working to help secure new business for local food producers and we now have a very strong reputation for the quality of our produce.”
Carmarthenshire companies Café Fair Trade, Carmarthenshire Cheese Co., Farm Fresh, Food Laboratory Wales, Parsons, Pembertons, San Cler, and Prima Foods all attended the fair.
Award winning Caws Cenarth also exhibited along with acclaimed waffle-maker Tregroes Waffles.
