Aled Maddock joins Cor Meibion Llanelli as accompanist


The choristers of Côr Meibion Llanelli (Llanelli Male Voice Choir) have a new accompanist.
Aled Maddock lives in Cross Hands and is a native of the Neath Valley.
He succeeds Rhiannon Williams-Hale.
Cor Meibion Llanelli musical director Eifion Thomas said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Aled to the team. He is a very experienced musician with an extensive CV and we are sure he will fit in and help to take the choir forward in 2015."

Aled Maddock (B.Mus)
Aled Maddock attended Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera before graduating in Music at The University of North Wales, Bangor.
He is a former pupil of Madame Eileen Gethin–Jones and Czech pianist Jana Frenklova.
After graduating Aled was appointed as Musical Director of Craig y Nos Castle where he was responsible for arranging numerous musical events held in the Patti Theatre.
During this time, he also began his association as accompanist with Neath and District Ladies Choir, Côr Meibion Onllwyn who performed with Côr Meibion Llanelli at The Brits at Alexandra Palace, and Bryncoch Male Voice Choir.
He was appointed Musical Director of Tonna Male Voice Choir in 1998 a post he held until 2002 forming his own mixed choir “CôrAl” in the Swansea Valley.
He has conducted the popular S4C religious programme “Dechrau Canu, Dechrau Canmol” on several occasions and is particularly proud of the Christmas programme broadcast in 2003 from St David's Church Ystalyfera.
After obtaining his PGCE in 1994, Aled was appointed to his current post as Head of Music at his former school Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera where he teaches both Music and Performing Arts.
He has toured extensively with the performing arts faculty visiting Canada, South Africa, Malaysia and Singapore.
He has twice been Musical Director of the Urdd National Youth Productions.
In 2003 (Tawe, Nedd ac Afan) he directed the only open air performance of the rock opera “Jiwdas” and in 2010 (Abertawe) he directed “Abertawe’n Fflam” a rock opera based on the Blitz in Swansea.
Aled also enjoys composing and arranging ,particularly for youth choirs and ensembles.
He has received commissions from the Urdd National Eisteddfod for arrangements for SSA , SATB and TB choirs.
Aled lives in Cross Hands with his wife Manon and young son Iestyn Rhys.
