Aberystwyth and Bangor universities form joint company
Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities’ Strategic Alliance have launched a joint consultancy company.
Aberystwyth and Bangor Consultancy Ltd will be the vehicle for both Universities to further develop the portfolio of commercial consultancy services for the two Universities and forms a key feature of the future of the Strategic Alliance.
Professor April McMahon, Vice-Chancellor of Aberystwyth University, said: “Our Universities have worked together for a number of years; we’re good friends and good neighbours and have a strong track record of partnership working. Establishing a new joint consultancy company is amongst a range of exciting initiatives which sees our universities strengthen the ties we have, whilst at the same time allowing us to promote our individual areas of academic and professional strengths. I look forward to learning of the successes of our new company as we continue to provide a range of high level consultancy services to our customers.”
The company has been established to provide a joint operational vehicle to develop consultancy services in both Universities, building on established practices and provides public and private sector clients with access to a greater range of services provided by both institutions.
Professor John Hughes, Vice-Chancellor of Bangor University, commented: “Both of our Universities take pride in the quality of our research and consultancy. It is one of the key tools to ensuring that research has impact on society and the economy. We’re delighted to launch this new joint company to increase our consultancy activities and offer greater visibility and improved quality of service to our clients in business and government."
Welcoming the launch of the company, First Minister and Aberystwyth University alumnus, Carwyn Jones AM said: “This strategic partnership between Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities complements the Welsh Government’s aspiration of delivering services effectively across Wales by working together towards a common goal. I would like to congratulate them on developing this initiative and will follow its progress with interest.”
The Strategic Alliance between Bangor and Aberystwyth Universities was announced in December 2011 and built on the previous partnership between the two institutions.
