'Sheltered' residents get surfing!

Tenants at Carmarthen’s Yr Aelwyd Sheltered Scheme have been surfing the web for bargains thanks to a £5,000 Lottery grant.
The Awards for All grant has allowed the scheme, in Tregunnor, to invest in a computer and printer for tenants to use, and Carmarthenshire Association of Voluntary Services (CAVS) have stepped in to offer free lessons.
Sheltered Scheme Officer Amanda Jones said: “The tenants decided they would like a computer to keep up with changing technology, and they were particularly interested in Internet shopping. Most of the tenants have never looked, or been interested, in a computer before, but they are doing really well.
“Now they are able to do some online shopping, socialise via email and Facebook and reminisce on old times by browsing through local history websites.”
