Vision for future in Carmarthenshire
A plan has been unveiled outlining a vision for the future of Carmarthenshire.
The Deposit Carmarthenshire Local Development Plan, which is now available for public consultation, sets out a strategy and policies which will shape the manner in which the county changes and develops in the period to 2021.
It allocates land for housing and employment purposes, and indicates where these and other uses will be permitted, in addition to identifying areas where policies designed to protect the environment from inappropriate developments apply.
On adoption in 2013, the LDP will replace the current Unitary Development Plan, and it will provide the basis for the consideration and assessment of all proposals and planning applications in Carmarthenshire.
Carmarthenshire County Council executive board member for regeneration and leisure Cllr Clive Scourfield said: “Many of Carmarthenshire’s residents have already provided the authority with valuable assistance in terms of evidence gathering and consultation feedback.
“I would urge residents to take this opportunity to play a further part so that we can continue to work together to deliver our shared vision for the future of our County.”
The Deposit LDP and associated documents are currently available for inspection on the Council’s website at www.carmarthenshire.gov.uk, and printed copies of the documents are also available for public inspection at all Council libraries, Customer Service Centres and Planning Offices.
As part of the consultation process, a series of exhibitions has been arranged at the following locations between 1pm and 7pm: Carmarthen Library (Room 2) on July 20; Ysgol Griffith Jones Hall, St. Clears, on July 21, Llanelli Town Hall (Room 1) on July 25; Castle Hotel, Llandovery, on July 26; Pontyberem Hall on July 27 and Aberduar Chapel Vestry, Llanybydder, on July 28.
The closing date for the consultation is August 19, 2011. Any representations must be submitted to the county council on official forms by 4.30pm on that date.
