Awards ceremony for Carmarthenshire workers
Hundreds of people working in the fields of social care, health, housing and children’s services in Carmarthenshire have received recognition for long service and special achievement.
An award ceremony was hosted by Carmarthenshire County Council to honour its own employees, and also those working for independent providers.
In all, 112 people received awards for achieving 20, 25 and 30 years long service with the council.
A further 200 people were recognised for new qualifications they have gained in the last year, ranging from line management qualifications to NVQs, Diplomas and Degrees.
The ceremony, held at Kidwelly’s Princess Gwenllian Centre, also celebrated the achievements of Carmarthenshire’s Social Care Workforce Development Partnership, which provides learning and development opportunities for the county’s social care workforce.
Over 160 organisations and groups are members of the partnership which join together to create a supported framework for more than 5,000 employees.
In a joint statement, Bruce McLernon, Director of Social Care, Health and Housing and Rob Sully, Director of Education and Children’s Services, said: “The range of qualifications achieved is wide and varied, and we recognise the hard work and dedication that is required to gain a qualification as well as carrying out day-to-day duties.
“It is widely acknowledged that it is our well-trained, knowledgeable and committed workforce that enables us to carry out our mission to deliver modern, excellent services that will improve the health and well-being of the people of Carmarthenshire.
“Congratulations are extended to everyone on their achievements.”
