Llandeilo children plant trees to lift town

Llandeilo schoolchildren have planted trees to improve the environment of the town.
Following Penlan Park’s success in gaining the prestigious Green Flag award two years in a row, further improvements have recently taken place.
Penlan Park has significant mature tree planting - comprising various deciduous species throughout the site.
A significant stand of large beech trees on neighbouring private land also add to the impressive features of the park however these required some work to remove some dead/decaying limbs.
The family of the late Phillip Clayton have carried out this work and have also kindly given their permission to allow local school children to replant 12 large beech trees to replace the older trees.
This was carried out recently with children representing Tregib Comprehensive, Llandeilo CP School and Ysgol Teilo Sant.
Carmarthenshire County Council assistant grounds maintenance manager Gerwyn Thomas said: “The trees were donated by the council’s Parks Section in an effort to maintain this outstanding feature of Llandeilo well into the future.”
