Tenor Trystan is Cor Meibion's concert guest

The guest tenor at Cor Meibion Llanelli's St David's Day concert is Trystan Llŷr Griffiths.
Trystan received his primary education in Beca School, Efailwen, where he was first given the opportunity to perform; singing and acting both individually and alongside his fellow pupils.
He then attended Preseli Secondary School, Crymych, where he represented his school on the Eisteddfod stage and the sports field, and he is still a keen rugby player.
In the Sixth Form he studied Music, Geography, and Design Technology for his A-levels.
Trystan has been competing from an early age, and has managed to claim the first prize on many occasions at various prestigious events such as the ‘Urdd National Eisteddfod’, the ‘National Eisteddfod of Wales’, and the ‘National Cerdd Dant Festival’.
He is a member of Aelwyd Crymych, which is a local branch of Urdd Gobaith Cymru (the National Youth Organisation of Wales), and has experienced the cultures of Patagonia, Estonia, Finland, and Russia during the travels of the Aelwyd’s choir.
Trystan won a scholarship to Trinity College, Carmarthen, in 2005 to study a degree course in ‘Theatre, Music, and Media Studies’, he graduated with 2:1 honours.
Whlist in college he performed on television programmes such as Dechrau Canu Dechrau Canmol, Blue Peter, and Wedi 3, as well as singing at the Millenium Stadium and the Millenium Centre, Cardiff.
Having reached the final of the Trinity Festival’s Musical Competition in 2007, Trystan was also a member of the Trinity Choir that was successful in the Choir of Wales competition during the same year.
He starred in one of the main roles in the Welsh language musical ‘Y Dyn ‘Nath Ddwyn y ‘Dolig’ (the man who stole Christmas), in which he was the character Sam Crosby. Trystan also played the part of Joseff in the musical ‘Y Gair A Wnaethpwyd yn Gnawd’ by Eilir Owen Griffiths.
He resently appeared in the BBC2 programme ‘Welsh Tenors’, presented by Tim Rhys Evans.
In the National Eisteddfod of Wales 2009 Trystan won the Osborne Roberts award along with the London male voice choir scholarship, and he won the David Lloyd and Jean Skidmore scholarship for the most promissing tenor.
As well as winning these prizes he won the ffrench solo under 25, 2nd in the Oratorio solo under 25 and 3rd in the Welsh solo under 25.
As well as taking part in numerous competitions, he participates regularly in concerts all over Wales, and his repertoire includes the work of Handel (Messiah),Mendelssohn (Elijah), Nicolai Mass (Haydn) and the Stainer’s Crucifixtion. He is a member of Ar Ol Tri male voice choir and his goal for the future is to keep on singing and go on to make a profesional career.
