Fun learning events in Carmarthenshire

Aa part of Adult Learner’s Week, Carmarthenshire Learning Festival will be holding fun learning events across the county as a way of empowering people to take control of their future.
The events will take place in various venues across the county until May 22.
In the past, the Carmarthenshire Learning Festival has given people the confidence to find the right course which has led to them gaining employment.
Thanks to the Carmarthenshire Learning Festival, Gordon Craig, now a Carmarthenshire Youth Service employee, enrolled on an IT course with JobForce Wales which then led on to him attending STEPS, a motivation course, where he achieved qualifications in numeracy, literacy and ICT.
While at JobForce Wales, Gordon’s efforts were recognised by staff from the Llanelli SMART Project where Gordon has now been seconded.
Gordon said:“I would encourage anyone wanting to improve their skills to attend the Carmarthenshire Learning Festival; there are so many organisations out there that can help people achieve their goals in life – it’s never too late to start learning.
“Had it not been for the information I received at the Festival, I may not be doing what I am today – it gives you a huge confidence boost and gives you hope knowing that there are people who can help you succeed.”
Executive Board Member for Education and Children’s Services, Councillor Gwynne Wooldridge added:“Gordon is an inspiration to us all and he is a great role model to the young people on the SMART Project; we are fortunate as an authority to have employees like Gordon working with and bringing out the best in young people.
“Even during these uncertain times it is very reassuring that Carmarthenshire can still provide people with opportunities to build a brighter future; the Carmarthenshire Learning Festival should be embraced by all adults who want to develop their skills.”
