Carmarthenshire appeal for unwanted items

Carmarthenshire householders are being asked to donate unwanted household items – from crockery to beds – to help homeless people furnish their first place of their own.
The Wallich organisation has launched an appeal to the public for help for homeless people setting up home.
An email to all Carmarthenshire County Council staff has already received an enthusiastic response with donations of furniture and household items.
Assistant team leader Mary Jones said: “We regularly move young people on from the project and often grants are not available to furnish accommodation.”
Twenty five-year-old Nathan Denton, who has been provided with furniture after recently moving into a house in Dafen, Llanelli, said: “It has made such a difference. I have furniture, a place to stay and a roof over my head. The Wallich is still giving me support.”
If you contact The Wallich on 01554 780259, staff can arrange to pick up items from your home. They are interested in household items such as kitchen utensils, appliances, beds and furniture, crockery, curtains and bedding.
