Sharing the stage with Norman Whiteside!
Carmarthen Town have once again set the date for their annual celebrity dinner to be held at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel, Carmarthen on Friday, May 14.
The principal guest speaker for this year’s event will be Norman Whiteside.
Whiteside became Man United's youngest player since Duncan Edwards when he made his debut in 1981/82 season.
In the following season, he appeared in both the FA and League Cup finals and became the youngest player to score in both.
He also broke Pele’s record as the youngest player to play in the World Cup aged 17 years 41 days.
He became known as the Shankhill Skinhead because of his physical, aggressive playing style and was also passionately called the Scourge of the Scousers, given his remarkable match winning displays against Liverpool and Everton.
He won 38 caps for his country and made 273 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 66 goals.
He also played for Everton before his career was ended by injury in 1991 at the age of 26 years.
The celebrity dinner has become a firm favourite on the sporting calendar and is always a sell out, becoming increasingly popular with the ladies, who are more than welcome to attend.
The MC for the night is yours truly, Robert Lloyd.
The funds raised go directly to complete the refurbishing of Town’s Community Centre.
Club Chairman Jeff Thomas said:"Since our last Dinner our Richmond Park Community Centre has been completed but funds are now required to ensure that it can be developed as a Conference Centre of the highest calibre. It really will be a facility to treasure and will be available for a range of community, business and social activities. The money raised from this event will go towards this worthy initiative.”
The popularity of the event means that early reservation of tickets is advisable. The tickets priced at £26.50 can be purchased individually, in small numbers or by arranging a table of guests. Jeff Thomas emphasises that attendees will be helping a worthy cause while enjoying a splendid evening in the process.
Tickets can be reserved by contacting Jeff Thomas, 55 Bronwydd Rd, Carmarthen SA31 2AP or by telephone (01267 236227) or by email jeffthomas@jeffthomas.plus.com
