Ffos Las ready for grand opening day

Ffos Las Racecourse near Carway, Llanelli, has staged two horse racing fixtures to rave reviews, and now it is gearing up for its 'official' grand opening.
The ceremony will be conducted by television's former 'Voice of Racing' Sir Peter O'Sullevan - and Wales's own Cerys Matthews will be in concert on Friday 28 August.
Cerys is looking forward to visiting the first turf racecourse to open in Britain for more than 70 years.
"I am delighted and excited to have been asked to sing at the new Ffos Las Racecourse on 28 August," she said. "It is close to where I grew up and will definitely bring new interest and business to this part of Wales. I think it's going to be a lovely day for everyone."
While the inaugural racing fixture in June was a sell-out, the Carmarthenshire racecourse stressed that tickets still remain available for the big day later this month. Advance booking is advised to avoid possible disappointment.
The afternoon includes the richest race to be staged at Ffos Las to date - the £50,000 freebets.co.uk Handicap Chase, run over an extended three miles and one furlong.
In all, there is more than £100,000 in prize-money available for the seven races which are scheduled to begin at 2.10pm. The finale is 5.25pm, after which Cerys Matthews will be in concert.
Ffos Las Racecourse's General Manager Jon Williams said: "Everyone at the racecourse has been thrilled by the public's reaction to the first two racing days at Ffos Las. It is tremendously satisfying that so many people have enjoyed themselves.
"Now it's time for our official grand opening, and it promises to be another great occasion, with Sir Peter O'Sullevan carrying out the opening ceremony and Cerys Matthews entertaining the crowds when the horse races have been run."
Tickets for Ffos Las's seven fixtures between August and December can be bought online at www.ffoslasracecourse.com or by calling 01554 811092/389.
The quickest way to purchase tickets is online.
The racecourse was lately given an additional fixture on Saturday 12 September, creating a two-day weekend meeting. The Saturday is a real ale festival, while Sunday 13 September is a family day when there will be rides and entertainment for children.
Tickets can be purchased in advance for all three days - the grand opening on 28 August as well as both days in September - for £16 per person.
On-the-day admission is £17.
Children under 16 are always admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
