With all the eating and drinking we tend to produce a lot more rubbish at this time of the year which is why it’s important to try and recycle as much as possible.
Please use your blue bags for plastic bottles, cans, cardboard packaging, wrapping paper and cards.
Unavoidable Christmas food waste such as turkey bones and vegetable peelings should go in your green food bins so that it can be taken for composting.
Please use your local glass bank to recycle any glass bottles and jars; to find your nearest visit i-Local and click on My Nearest, then Recycling and Bins and select Recycling Banks.
You can also sign up for text or email alerts on a range of council services including recycling on i-Local and find out when your bins are being collected or if it is a blue or black bag week by clicking on My House.
Executive Board Member for the Environment Cllr Hazel Evans said: “We want to remind people about the changes to collections over the festive period. It is important people continue to recycle using their blue bags and food bins.”
Remember there are also changes to recycling centre opening times over the Christmas period.
