Hello everyone
We had a wonderful jazz club evening in June, and here's news of July - and August - jazz below. Thanks to everyone who writes in with feedback and supportive ideas. There is a great Review on Ian Mann's website - www.thejazzmann.com
Next jazz date (Tues 19 July) sees a special visit we've arranged with the South African (Capetown) pianist, Philip Clouts. Influenced by those rhythms and also by the sounds of jazz, Philip (who now lives in the UK) has performed very widely and recorded many albums, with top names. He met us some time ago and we resolved to form a 'Welsh' lineup for him one day, and here they are! A wonderful mix of established performers such as the fantastic Tamasin Reardon (alto), with impressive younger talents from RWCMD in Cardiff, Linus Fenton and Matt Griffiths, both making a name for themselves on the jazz scene. Philip Clouts himself is a brilliant soloist and composer, who plays very melodic, swinging jazz. We are very excited about this event, and it will get us all in 'concert mood' for Brecon Jazz, with lots more special things to come...
So see you on Tuesday 19 July. Our lovely dining options will be available as usual, and we'll circulate the menu in due course.
