Man fined for failing to clean up after dog in Pantyffynnon

A man has been fined for failing to clean up after his dog on Pantyffynon rugby field.
A member of the public reported the incident to the council’s environmental enforcement unit and provided a witness statement.
A man from the Capel Hendre area was identified as the offender and was issued with a fixed penalty notice for £75 as a result.
Failure to pay could lead to prosecution in the magistrates court where the maximum penalty that can be imposed is £1,000.
Executive Board Member for Environmental and Public Protection Cllr Jim Jones said: “Dog mess left anywhere is a serious health risk and these fields are used to play rugby on. I am appalled that people are leaving their dogs defecate on the rugby field and not cleaning it up.
“I would like to thank the member of the public for reporting this offence to us so that action could be taken against the offender. Hopefully this fine will make dog owners think twice about leaving their dog mess behind.”
Anyone who sees someone allowing a dog to foul is asked to note what has happened as soon as possible. Include the time, date and location, a description of the dog and person in charge of the dog. They should then contact Carmarthenshire Direct on 01267 234567.
A major campaign is underway to clean up Carmarthenshire and residents are being urged to play their part and help the council catch those responsible for dog fouling.
To report dog fouling visit i-Local or call Carmarthenshire Direct on 01267 234567.
