Awards season starts early for the Evan-Evans Brewery!

The awards season has started early for the Evan-Evans Brewery.
The brewery finished as runners-up in the Food and Drink Business of the Year in the prestigious and inaugural Carmarthen Journal and Llanelli Star West Wales business awards.
And The George Hotel in Brecon (part of the Evan-Evans brewery pub and hotel portfolio) received a runners-up award in a new competition to find the Best Breakfast in Wales.
“It’s a lovely start to the year to be recognised for our work,” said Michelle Francis, Operations Manager with the Evan-Evans Brewery.
“The brewery was up against stiff competition in the West Wales business awards, with the giant Castell Howell food wholesaler and the popular Sosban restaurant in Llanelli also in the same category.”
The award went to Sosban. But a spokesman for the judges said it was a very close run thing with all three businesses showing evidence of providing high quality service and delivering products of the highest standard.
Brewer James Buckley, a sixth generation member of the world famous Buckley brewing family, was on hand to collect the runners-up prize of a framed newspaper front page at a gala ceremony at the Stradey Park Hotel.
James said: “The event was attended by 300 people from all sectors of business in West Wales. The room at the Stradey Park was full of the best of the best from the west and it was a delight, honour and privilege to be nominated and included in such a prestigious new event.”
The George Hotel's ‘Full Cooked Breakfast’ was awarded the runner up place in the Best Breakfast in Wales category in the new Shake Up Your Wake awards, which are dedicated to proving that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
Michelle added: “Visitors to The George know that our breakfasts have legendary status and it’s great credit to the team in Brecon that they have received this new certificate.”
