Russell Kane teams up with South Wales comedy heroes

Celebrated TV comedian Russell Kane is one his way back to South Wales for two shows which see him team up with some of the area's local comedy heroes.
November 18 marks the return to Swansea of Kane as he comes to the Brangwyn Hall with more of the hilarious stand-up comedy that won him the prestigious Edinburgh comedy award and saw him hit TV screens as a regular on 'Live at the Apollo', host of 'Britain Unzipped' and 'Live at the Electric'.
Following his sell out tour (which hit Swansea Grand Theatre earlier in the year), a sinister one-man play and the publication of his debut novel, Kane is booked into the recently-renovated Brangwyn and there genuinely couldn't be a bigger act than the energetic, Essex-boy-come-comedy-king.
The idea to put on the show is a collaboration between '100 Voices', an organisation well known in Swansea for raising money for numerous local charity causes and 'Comedy Sheep' a stand-up comedy group based in South Wales.
Dale Francis, the founder of '100 Voices' explained his desire to bring back the big show spectacle to South Wales, "Swansea has a rich history of beautiful venues and the very best in entertainment. The real magic happens in some of these settings, I want people to switch off the TV once in a while and come and see why music, comedy and theatre is best enjoyed live!"
As well as bringing one of the biggest names in comedy to Swansea, Dale insists on using the cream of the crop in local talent to enhance the show.
"A lot of people don't realise how lucky we are in Wales, we're a small population but we are absolutely bursting with talent that makes a big splash internationally. The line-up for this show would shine anywhere, they're genuinely world class acts and they've all learnt their trade right here in Swansea."
The host for the evening is Ignacio Lopez, a half Spanish, half Welsh comedian described as "Spain's Best Export" who has toured extensively; having played shows in Los Angeles, Norway, Spain and all over the UK since his debut gig in Swansea five years ago.
Ignacio is excited to be back in Swansea this November, "It's going to be amazing, I've been all over the world but the best audiences are definitely the Welsh, there's something mischievous about the Welsh laugh. You've got to have a sense of humour in Swansea, all those beautiful beaches and so little sunshine!"
Ignacio also shares Dale's passion for live entertainment, "I've done a few TV shows, some have been great and some that have made me want to pull a Renée Zellweger and disguise my face! But nothing compares to live comedy, things will be said in the Brangwyn Hall in November that nobody will ever hear again, there is no sky+ or on demand, just funny people doing what they do best and a full hall laughing."
Phil Evans, pioneer of the 'cwtsh', started his career performing warm up for the Barry Welsh Show, since then he's been a regular face on S4C and the live circuit in Wales.
He says that nothing compares to seeing a comedian in the flesh, "It's fantastic, you don't need 3D glasses to enjoy the spectacle and the atmosphere is electric. There's more of a risk with live entertainment, but the pay off is so much bigger. With Russell Kane you're guaranteed laughs and the rest of the acts are the icing on the cake. There's something for everyone."
Asked if he is excited to play the Brangwyn, Phil said, "It's remarkable, I played a dinner at the Brangwyn Hall and I must have gone down well, because they've asked me right back, 15 years later!"
Paul James is a man who knows comedy, a one liner act with a dark comic twist and a warm engaging style; he started "The Clown's Pocket" comedy club in the Duke in Neath four years ago and has managed to return to Neath every month to host in between touring the UK. This year, Neath's annual comedy festival commemorated it's fourth birthday by launching it's own "Clown's Pocket" beer produced by local brewery, 'Neath Ales'. "I really can't wait to perform at the iconic Brangwyn Hall as part of such a great night of stand-up. Swansea look out!"
Also on the bill adding to the star-studded lineup are musicians Karl Morgan and John Adams.
Karl Morgan of 'Who's Molly' fame has been touring the world alongside some of the biggest names in music and boasts some big celebrity fans of his work; it wouldn't be unusual to catch members of 'The Stereophonics' or 'The Hoosiers' singing along to Karl's songs.
John Adams has made a big impact in the world of music since appearing on X-Factor in 2012 and following his rendition of Damien Rice's 'Cannonball' made UK-chart history by launching Rice's version up to number 9, the first time a song has re-entered at a higher position than it's original release.
The show is set to present the newly renovated Brangwyn Hall to an entirely new audience with this massive comedy show and is sure to help '100 Voices' raise awareness for it's various causes and with 'Comedy Sheep' promote some of the excellent talent South Wales has to offer by showcasing them alongside comedy-King Russell Kane.
The following night Kane and the team will be performing at the Monmouth Savoy Theatre.
