Appeal for gifts for orphans as part of Teddy Tour Challenge

A West Wales choir is collecting gifts for orphans as choir officials embark on a 7,000 mile journey around European orphanages.
Llanelli’s Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers will be undertaking their Transcontinental Teddy Tour Challenge in August which will see the choir officials drive across 27 countries and 7,000 miles to deliver 25 giant teddy bears.
A local drop-off point has been set up for donations and gifts.
“The needs of some of the orphanages are very basic”, explains Jeremy Hywel Williams, Director of Development of the Hywel Choir – who will be going on the Teddy Tour Challenge. “Some have even requested underwear for their children – which reflects on how basic and desperate their needs are.”
The donations and gifts collected will benefit desperate children and young people of all ages, from infants to teenagers with orphanages mainly in Eastern and South Eastern Europe.
“The ideal gifts are new, not second hand and could be toiletries, soap, shampoo, shower gel, flannels, hair brushes, combs, underwear, socks, t-shirts, small puzzles and games, stationary or art and craft materials. Alternatively, any donations would be brilliant.”
A local drop-off point has been set up for donations and gifts to be dropped off before Sunday 4th August at 6 Harries Avenue, Llanelli, SA15 3LF. For gifts which need to be collected, please call 01554 772979.
