Eco friendly roadshow for St Elli Shopping Centre

A special eco friendly roadshow kicks off in Llanelli on Thursday (June 27).
Carmarthenshire County Council has teamed up with Europe Direct, based at the West Wales European Centre - to celebrate and raise awareness of the wide range of green initiatives in the county working to reduce our carbon footprint and encourage a more sustainable way of living.
The Sustainable Living Roadshow is also an opportunity to spotlight key issues such as pollution, waste, endangered species, natural resources scarcity and climate change.
The show will take place at St Elli Shopping Centre between 11am and 2pm on Thursday.
As part of the event, council recycling officers will be giving advice and information on recycling as well as helping residents to reduce their waste, particularly food waste.
There will be cooking demonstrations giving ideas on how to use left-overs to create delicious recipes and sharing tips on growing your own vegetables, upcycling demonstrations on creating new fashion items out of recycled material, such as buttons, clothes and information on workshops and courses in Carmarthenshire (Carmarthenshire County Council community education and Coleg Sir Gar).
Transport and energy officers will also be visiting with one of the council’s electric cars and The Green Room.
The council’s sustainability officer, Dr Eurgain Powell said: “The Roadshows will be an excellent opportunity for people to find out what they can do to help reduce their impact on the environment and lead a more sustainable lifestyle.
"It doesn’t matter whether you are looking to save money, or to protect the planet for future generations – we can all do something, and together can make a real difference to our world.”
Other stalls will include Carmarthenshire Community Challenge, SWWITCH, National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthenshire Energy, Carmarthenshire Environment Partnership.
There will also be a free prize draw – to win a local produce hamper.
