Special Jubilee lunch in Carmarthenshire schools

Primary schools across the county have held a special lunch party to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
Carmarthenshire Catering Service, part of the local authority, served up a buffet lunch fit for royalty to help thousands of children mark the great occasion.
Children were served a selection of sandwiches, pizza fingers, buffet sausages and carrot and cucumber sticks, followed by a decorated cupcake, jelly and fruit squash.
Sandra Weigel, Catering Services Manager, said: “It was a lovely occasion and a special lunchtime treat for the children to mark the Queen’s Jubilee.”
Carmarthenshire Catering Service serves up 19,000 school meals every day, with every two-course meal analysed by a sophisticated software system for nutritional quality.
Lunch costs £2.00 with many families eligible for free school meals.
