Cash boost for Pantyffynnon park

Pantyffynnon Communities First Partnership Group has received an award of £46,639 by WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental) to refurbish the local park.
The award is the result of the co-ordinated effort of local residents, volunteers and the support of Communities First team.
The re-development will have an array of equipment for all ages and will include an exercise area with an outdoor gym, suitable for adults and disabled people.
The younger children will benefit from a climbing frame, swings, and a natural play mound whilst there will be a larger climbing frame, zipwire and assault course for older children. The project will also provide picnic tables and some planting in the area.
Emma Martin-Jewell from Pantyffynnon Communities First said: “The Park will cater for all ages, not just children. The benefits that a green gym can bring to the community are not just through physical exercise, and improved mental health, but also greater community cohesion with an opportunity to mix with other people.
“I envisage the park to become a thriving hub of activity, providing opportunities for local voluntary groups to run fitness sessions, health walks, events, and children’s activities.”
The Pantyffynnon Play Park is situated in the Communities First ward of Pantyffynnon, Ammanford. It is an enclosed play area, and at present the area consists of limited equipment for a small age range, resulting in the area not being utilised to its full potential and is in real need of renovation.
Carol Cadman, treasurer of the group, added: “This is a substantial contribution from WREN towards a project that will cost just over £55,000. We have also received fantastic support from Carmarthenshire County Council who will manage the delivery and ongoing maintenance of the project
“The whole community is really excited about this project, and I personally look forward to seeing a much improved facility right on our doorstep.”
WREN distributes Landfill Communities Funds of Waste Recycling Group. Organisations and community groups requiring funding for beneficial projects should visit www.wren.org.uk or contact WREN on 01953 717165.
