Advice roadshow heads for Llandeilo

Llandeilo residents will be the next to benefit from a roadshow which aims to make people more aware of the help available to them in times of financial strain.
Representatives from several organisations which make up Advice Support Carmarthenshire have been hitting the road to offer information on a range of issues such as reducing fuel bills, volunteering, benefit entitlements, housing and much more.
The roadshow has already visited several towns and communities across the county, and will be based at Llandeilo town car park for its next stop on Thursday, October 20.
Information and question and answer sessions are also being broadcast on Radio Carmarthenshire and Scarlet FM.
Amongst those signed up as part of the ASC network are Age Cymru, CAVS, Mencap, Job Force Wales, the Department of Work and Pensions and Citizens Advice Bureau.
ASC co-ordinator, Lyn Bright, said: “We have experienced officers on-hand to help people understand what support they may be eligible to, and we can also advise people on how to apply for benefits and who to contact. Please come along and see if there is any support available to you.”
ASC was launched in Carmarthenshire in 2010 as part of a co-ordinated effort to help communities deal with a variety of issues such as money management and entitlements.
Various themes are followed throughout the year, the latest of which is fuel poverty.
The network wants to support people by advising on ways to cut down fuel bills, helping to identify home improvement grants, and helping people check their benefit entitlements.
Cllr Kevin Madge, chair of the ASC network, said: “We are really pleased to be able to take this road show right in to the heart of several Carmarthenshire communities where we hope to catch the attention of as many locals as possible.
“It is so vitally important that people realise that there is help and support available to them – if anyone has any issues they’d like to discuss or get advice on, please do call in and speak to the various representatives that will be there on the day. Please be assured that we are here to help, and will offer any advice we can in the strictest of confidence.”
The final stop of the roadshow will be on Wednesday, October 26, when it arrives at Felinfoel Community Centre, Llanelli.
