The latest 'View from Richmond Park' column from the Carmarthen Journal newspaper -
There was a bumper crowd at the annual Fete and Football tournament staged by Carmarthen Town AFC at Richmond Park on Saturday.
The Mayor of Carmarthen, Councillor Tom Defis, officially opened the tournament and was on hand to present the trophies at the end of the event.
Dewi Sant A won the Boys Years 5 and 6 category. Maesllyn won the Boys Years 3 and 4 competition. The Y Castell 2 team won the girls tournament.
The event was sponsored by the St Catherine’s Walk shopping centre.
Carmarthen Town AFC chairman Gareth Jones said he was delighted with the success of the event.
“It was great to see so many youngsters enjoying their football at Richmond Park. We hope many will visit us again. Many thanks go to everyone who helped organise and contributed to a splendid day.”

The Reserves resume training at Trinity Fields at 6.30pm on July 13.
The Under 19s/Youth team start training at Trinity Fields at 6pm on July 12.
Town’s first friendly of the season will be against one of manager Tomi Morgan’s old clubs, Tregaron Turfs on Saturday, July 16.
An additional friendly has been organised away to West End on Tuesday, July 26.
Carmarthen Town will then play Caersws away on July 30.
The Old Gold will play Welsh League Champions Bryntirion Athletic on August 6 at Richmond Park.
The new Welsh Premier League season starts on the weekend of August 12.

Carmarthen Town is now recruiting a new media officer.
The position could be filled by a job-share between a number of interested Carmarthen Town supporters. Anyone who is interested or who needs further information about the post, can ring Robert Lloyd on 07777 683637.
The position may be of interest to students interested in pursuing a career in journalism. They will have the opportunity to learn new skills and the chance to work alongside experienced journalists.

Tote draw – June 28 draw, winning numbers 06 and 36. There was no winner for the prize of £200. The was won by Rose (Dairies). The draw for a prize of £300 was being made on Tuesday night.
