Volunteers help clean-up Pantyffynnon
Pantyffynnon has been brightened up over the last month thanks to the efforts of volunteers.
The work has been carried out by volunteers from the local rugby team, to the young people of the Prince’s Trust scheme.
Not only have the grounds in the community been clean up through an organised litter pick, but also clearance work has been taken place, and the restoration and preservation of fencing in the Parcyrhun estate, thanks to Communities First Pantyffynnon.
Communities First is a Welsh Assembly Government flagship programme to improve the living conditions and prospects for people in the most disadvantaged communities across Wales, and the focus on the environment is part of the vision.
Anthony Mainwaring of Pantyffynnon Rugby Club said: “We are a pro-active team who support and promote looking after our environment.
“We are happy to get involved in initiatives in the community and applaud the efforts of our volunteers and work of Communities First.”
Carmarthenshire County Council executive board member for regeneration and leisure Cllr Clive Scourfield said: “I am delighted that local volunteers and Communities First Pantyffynnon have worked together to brighten up the area.”
