Have you heard the one about the Irish singer/songwriter and the software designer who walked into a pub with a great idea?
Pub and restaurant owners in Wales are starting to hear the story - and they are quickly appreciating that it’s no joke.
“Business Cook is a recipe for business success,” Ammanford-based entrepreneur Patrick Lawlor said.
“The food led businesses we are now talking to quickly realise we don’t have many jokes to tell them, but we do have a money-making marketing system which should leave them laughing all the way to the bank.”
Mr Lawlor, already a widely respected musician, has teamed up with business partner and software designer Richard Chubb to develop new hi-tech tools which can boost profits for hotel, restaurants, takeaways and pub grub venues.
“Essentially, we have developed tools which make it easy to increase customers and therefore profit,” said Mr Lawlor.
“In these difficult economic times, food outlets need to use every available tool to keep the businesses growing.
“Our software provides the tools they need not just to survive, but to thrive.
“Our online system allows consumers to book tables and pre-order meals. It also turns businesses into on-line marketing machines, by allowing them to take their business direct to their customers thus generating much more income.
“We call the software a management wrap profit generator - and it works!
“In one business (the Buck Inn in Pontlliw, Swansea) the software earned them more than £26,400 in extra income and 1764 covers of new customers in just ten months.
“Gradually, the word is getting around the food business and we have just installed the software at the popular and historic No Sign Bar in Wind Street, Swansea and the Ferryman at Briton Ferry.
“New customers going live in the next few weeks include: Gresham Inns London, Cafe Celia Ammanford and the Cebu Oriental Restaurant in Hereford.”
The software system, which has been developed at a cost of £60,000, can be tailored specifically for the needs of individual restaurant clients.
For example, as well as allowing restaurant-goers to book a table at a specific time and pre-order courses and drinks from drop-down option menus, customers can also save time by paying the bill in advance.
Business partners Richard Chubb and Patrick Lawlor are now about to market their technology to 10,000 restaurants in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
