New Carmarthen AFC column starts in Journal

A new 'View from Richmond Park' column has started in the Carmarthen Journal this week.
Here is the column in full -
Welcome to a new weekly Carmarthen Journal column focussing on the work of Carmarthen Town AFC football club.
And it’s appropriate that this new column starts with the spotlight on what is one of the most important dates in the football club’s calendar – the annual fete and football tournament.
The fete and football tournament kicks off at Richmond Park, Carmarthen, at 10.30am on Saturday, July 10.
Many Journal readers have kindly supported this event already by purchasing lucky number programmes from street sellers in and around Carmarthen.
Your support is greatly appreciated – but we also want to see you at Richmond Park on Saturday as it promises to be a hugely entertaining day.
A whole host of primary school teams have already entered the competition. Remember: teams must be at Richmond by 10am. For further information, contact Emlyn Schiavone on 07919 592628.
The fete will feature numerous stalls and attractions. The new clubhouse will be open for dads and mums wishing to watch the latest World Cup action.
And, as a first, there will also be a car boot sale between 10am and 12.30pm.
Funds raised from the event will go towards the Carmarthen AFC Community Programme, a very worthy charity project supported by EMC Electrical Services.
The special guest at the fete and football tournament will be Carmarthen Town Mayor Councillor Alan Speake.
Club executive committee chairman Gareth O Jones said: “In my opinion, the fete and football tournament is the most important date in Carmarthen Town’s calendar for the year.
“It is also an important date in the sporting calendar for the primary schools of Carmarthenshire.
“I would like to thank the teaching and support staff of all the schools for their assistance in helping the children compete. Thanks also go to parents for their kind support.
“The club’s Community Programme supports two local charities yearly. Here at Carmarthen Town, we pride ourselves in being a community-focussed club. We are very grateful for the support of local businesses and sponsors. Above all, we want to see our supporters and all our friends in the community turn up to attend the fete on Saturday. We’d love to see you there and we can promise a fun day for all!”
