Carmarthenshire Network survey completed
The 14-19 Carmarthenshire Network has conducted a survey to get young people’s views about 14-19 collaborative learning partnerships in Carmarthenshire.
A range of questions concerned with educational opportunities for 14-19 year olds in the County generated a huge response.
More than 500 young people completed the survey.
An opportunity to win an ipod Nano was up for grabs and Caitlin Littlejohns, a Year 9 student from Ysgol y Strade was the winner.
Paul Bowles, Carmarthenshire Council’s Quality and Personal Support Co-ordinator - 14-19 Network said:“Only by listening to young people’s views are we able to improve learning outcomes for them in the future; the results we received will prove really valuable for shaping the way learning is provided in Carmarthenshire. Thank you to all who took part.”
The Carmarthenshire 14-19 Network is the partnership of secondary schools, further education colleges, training providers, Careers Wales and the voluntary sector.
It is responsible for implementing the Welsh Assembly Government's 14-19 Learning Pathways initiative in the county.
The network was formally constituted in early 2003 and over the past three years, the Network has been working in parallel with developments within the Welsh Assembly Government and the 14-19 Learning Pathways team to raise awareness of changes to the 14-19 curriculum and to develop collaborative approaches to delivering Learning Pathways in the County.
Councillor Gwynne Wooldridge, Executive Board Member for Children and Education Services added:“We are taking a distinct approach to developing 14-19 education in the County by offering young people much more choice in their education. The survey will indeed help us see what’s lacking in the County for young people and what works for them.”
