Friends of Loud Applause Rising Stars launch night at Llanelly House

There must have been many nights like this is in the rich Georgian history of Llanelly House.
But few would have featured such a dazzling array of young talent.
Cerith Owens already has a fine reputation in Llanelli and the rest of South Wales for promoting major concerts and charitable events through his Loud Applause Productions team.
Now, Mr Owens has branched out by launching the Loud Applause Rising Stars charity and the Friends of Loud Applause Rising Stars.
The Rising Stars brand aims to mentor and encourage young talent in South Wales and provide performance opportunities for singers and musicians.
“It’s all about spotting young talent and then encouraging youngsters to fulfil their potential,” said Mr Owens.
His launch night for the Friends of Loud Applause Rising Stars saw established young singers and new faces take the ‘stage’ at Llanelly House.
Keely Morgan and Jordan Williams are two performers who are already well known to audiences in Llanelli and Swansea.
Keely’s dazzling set featured Quando M'en Vo (Musetta's Waltz) from La Boheme and The Holy City.
Jordan’s set featured Where ‘ere you walk and a new addition to his repertoire, Ysbryd y Nos. Judging by the audience reaction, Ysbryd y Nos will be the new ‘popular request’ at future Jordan Williams concerts.
As we have come to expect from Keely and Jordan, they produced first class performances and displayed a level of performance maturity which owes much to their careful handling as members of the Loud Applause Rising Stars team.
The ‘new recruits’ to the Rising Stars stable who were featured in the performance programme were -
Callum Rhys Williams, who performed I'll Walk With God from The Student Prince.
Thomas Bytheway, Anthem from Chess
Callum Howells, Up on the Roof by Carole King
Dylan Morgan, If I Can't Love Her from Beauty and the Beast
Make a note of the names, for these young gents will be coming soon to a concert venue near you!
The accompanists were Andrew Pike, Rhiannon Williams-Hale and Jane Jewell.
The harpist for a memorable evening in the dramatic setting of Llanelly House was Teleri Haf Gravell.

Loud Applause Rising Stars Charity
Loud Applause Rising Stars has been set up as a small charity with a Hon Patron, Huw Tregelles Williams OBE, and a Board of Trustees.
The purposes of the Charity are:
· To bring together a group of talented, up and coming singers and instrumentalists offering them the opportunity to become a Loud Applause Rising Star through an agreed selection and audition process
· To provide mentoring to the performer(s) in a number of ways that includes providing musical advice and opportunities to develop their musical development within a safe, trusted, honest and nurturing partnership.
· To provide staging opportunities for the performer(s) that are appropriate for their particular stage of development, confidence and aspirations including performances undertaken as part of or in conjunction with Loud Applause Rising Stars or Loud Applause Productions.
· To provide honest and professional critique of performances undertaken as part of or in conjunction with Loud Applause Rising Stars or Loud Applause Productions
· To promote the performer(s )through press releases, programme production and other media opportunities
· To assist and advise the performer(s) to commit to and observe the requirements of being professional in all aspects of their performance, business relations and career development
· To provide in particular agreed circumstances additional support to the performer(s) such as specialist tutoring or providing assistance with any barriers that may impede their development

Friends of Loud Applause Rising Stars (An Unincorporated Charity)
The Board of Trustees for LARS has set up a Friends of Loud Applause Rising Stars as an Unincorporated Association under Charity Law. Once firmly established with its own membership an election will establish a Committee consisting of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and Trustees and will be a completely separate entity working independently of LARS to support the charitable aims of LARS.
The Friends will have its own governing document (rules) and will bring together like minded individuals who will become registered members working in support of the charitable aims of LARS.
The aims of the Association shall be -
· To bring together a group of like-minded people in support of the charitable aims of Loud Applause Rising Stars
· To use the skills, knowledge, enthusiasm and talents of the membership of the association to the benefit of the young people who are registered with Loud Applause Rising Stars
· To promote and encourage wider participation in the charitable aims of Loud Applause Rising Stars
· To assist in identifying any grant or other income that will benefit the Loud Applause Rising Stars as determined by the Committee of the Association.
Membership of the Friends Association will be open to those who register for membership and are willing to pay the annual fee.
There are two categories of members -
· Standard Member
£50 for single membership annually
£80 for Joint Friends (2) living at the same address
£90 for Family membership (2 adults) and additionally £10 for each child under 16
£40 Concessionary rate for students under 21

Former Gower MP Gareth Wardell was the guest speaker at the weekly meeting of Llanelli Rotary Club held at the Stradey Park Hotel. 'Class of 1980' from Burry Port enjoy reunion

There was a big class reunion held in Burry Port at the weekend. Members of the Class of 1980 from Porth Tywyn (Burry Port junior) School got together at The Coasting Pilot pub. The reunion was organised by Christine Rees and same 22 members of the original class of 28 turn up to discuss their old schooldays. One ‘Class of 1980’ member was Burry Port businessman Owain Davies. He said: “We all have very happy memories of our time in school. We had a fantastic teacher in Mr Heddwyn Jones, who now lives in Four Roads. “We were very fortunate to have the same teacher for three years and we were a very happy class. Mr Jones was an inspiring teacher and we all got on every well and we are all still good friends. “Heather Thomas (now Heather Osmond) made it from Surrey, but she was trumped by Gail Morris, who flew in from Ohio in the United States for the reunion. “It was a fantastic evening at the Coasting Pilot with good food, good wine and good company. Lauryn Davey is making her mark in athletics - but needs sponsors

Ammanford-based Lauryn Davey is making a major mark in the world of Welsh athletics. At just 16, she is the best all-round athlete of her age in Wales. She's chalking up Welsh championship victories and has been honoured by her club, the Carmarthen Harriers. Lauryn's been earmarked as a future international star, but knows the road to the big championships is difficult, demanding and expensive. Ammanford businessman and well-known comic entertainer Phil Evans has launched a campaign to get cash backers for Lauryn's athletics career. "Everyone in the area is hugely proud of her achievements in athletics to date," said Phil. "But we also want to see her go on and do bigger and better things. "Together with some friends, I am helping find ways of generating much-needed sponsorship cash for Lauryn.
