The latest 'On Song' column from the Llanelli Star

The latest 'On Song' column (about the choral scene in and around Llanelli) from the Llanelli Star -

Llanelli concert promoter Cerith Owens, of Loud Applause Productions, has published details of his full calendar of events for 2015.
“It’s going to be another busy year and I have tried very hard to give some reasonable advance notice of events as I appreciate it can be difficult for other choirs and event promoters to avoid clashes,” said Mr Owens.
“Hopefully, our calendar of events will give everyone the chance to make a note in their diaries for the events they want to attend.”

In other news, Côr Meibion Llanelli (Llanelli Male Voice Choir) will be holding a special concert with The Three Welsh Tenors at the Selwyn Samuel Centre on Sunday, July 12.
And they will also be joined by some extra special guests – Llangennech Junior School choir.
The school choir performed admirably in the recent Songs of Praises competition and will be doing their best to outshine the other performers on stage.
The Three Welsh Tenors are three distinct and unique voices which complement each other perfectly.
With a programme comprising of classics from opera and musicals, famous Welsh songs and hymns, and contemporary compositions, they have something which appeals to all tastes and to suit every occasion.
The Three Welsh Tenors, Rhys Meirion, Aled Hall and Aled Wyn Davies since December 2014 (Alun Rhys-Jenkins original member), first came together to sing as a trio for the Celtfest extravaganza in Cardiff as part of a spectacular line up of stars to entertain rugby fans prior to a Wales vs New Zealand match.
They blew the audience away with their energetic and entertaining programme which allowed each of their unique personalities to shine through.
Côr Meibion Llanelli will be just out of the recording studio when the concert takes place and will be performing songs from their new CD album.
Lleisiau Hardd choir from Llanelli will be celebrating 10 years as a choir with their special concert at Ffwrnes Theatre, Llanelli, on Saturday, July 18.
Over the course of 10 years, the choir has grown in stature, reputation, and gained recognition on many fronts.
Over the past years, concerts have attracted sell out audiences, with some star guest appearances. The choir is under the musical direction of Bridget Radford.
Côr Meibion Dyffryn Tywi will be celebrating their 40th anniversary with a concert on Saturday, July 18, at the Princess Gwenllian Centre, Kidwelly (7pm).
The choristers of Cor Meibion Dyffryn Tywi have an excellent line-up for the evening.
The choir’s guests include celebrated Welsh tenor Rhys Meirion, mezzo-soprano Eirlys Myfanwy Davies and a folk group from Karelia.
The evening will be hosted by the popular BBC Cymru and Radio Cymru presenter Garry Owen. The evening is sponsored by Kidwelly's Gravells garage.
Tickets are £10 and available by ringing -01269 860996 or 01554 890956.
