The latest 'On Song' column about the choral scene in and around Llanelli from the Llanelli Star - 

Llanelli-based concert promoter Cerith Owens is teaming up with Llanelli Rotary Club to organise a First World War Centenary Concert in September.
The concert will be held on Saturday, September 6 at Greenfield Baptist Chapel and will be held in conjunction with the Royal British Legion.
Mr Owens, who runs Loud Applause Productions, said the concert would be a charity event in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
He added: “The poppy appeal is always a cause dear to everyone’s hearts and I felt it appropriate that something special needed to be done in Llanelli to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.”
The concert will feature Côr Meibion Llanelli, the 215 City of Swansea Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets Corps of Drums and rising singing star Samuel Morris.
The evening will include readings by Monro Walters and Robert Lloyd.
The concert will close with a ‘Tribute to the Fallen’.
Meanwhile, the latest Loud Applause Productions calendar of charity events has been released.
It includes the following concerts-

21st June, 7.30pm, Swansea Grand Theatre, in aid of Ty Hafan, Only Boys Aloud, Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers, Ariosa Singers, Daniella Difede, Samuel Morris, Kev Johns (host).
19th July, 7pm, Princess Gwenllian Centre, Kidwelly, in aid of Ty Cymorth, Glangwili Hospital, Trebor Edwards, Kidwelly Festival Choir, Parti Llwchwr.
4th October, 7pm, Christian Temple, Ammanford, in aid of Ammanford Stroke Group, Trystan Llyr Griffiths, Côr Meibion Llanelli, Ruth Bevan (host).
18th October, 7pm, Lyric Theatre, Carmarthen, Royal British Legion Charity Gala Concert, Rhys Meirion, Combined Male Voice Choir of Burry Port, Dyffryn Tywi & Mynydd Mawr, the 215 City of Swansea Corps of Drums, Samuel Morris, Angharad Rees.
Côr Meibion Llanelli choristers are currently looking forward to performing at the Houses of Parliament in London on Tuesday, April 1.
The choir will be performing before a select audience of MPs, Members of the House of Lords and special VIP guests at the request of Llanelli MP Nia Griffith.
Popular Llanelli ladies choir Côr Curiad will be performing at a Gala Concert being organised by the Llanelli Masonic Festival Committee at Ffwrnes Theatre on Saturday, July 19.
The evening will be compered by the hilarious TV comedian Owen Money and will also feature the award winning Burry Port Town Brass Band and the renowned National Eisteddfod winning soloist tenor Richard Allen.
On Saturday, April 5, a ‘Night of the choirs’ is being staged at Princess Gwenllian Centre, Kidwelly.
The evening will feature Côr Cydweli, Côr Glannau’r Gwendraeth, Côr Meibion Dyffryn Tywi, and Côr Meibion Porth Tywyn. Samuel Morris is also on the bill. The compere will be Ioan Hefin and the evening is being organised by Mynyddygarreg and Kidwelly Appeals Committee for the Carmarthenshire National Eisteddfod.
On Saturday, April 26 (postponed from January 25), there will be a concert at Pontyberem Hall (7pm) in aid of the Sir Gar WI stand at the Carmarthenshire National Eisteddfod. Guest artists include Samuel Morris and pianist Sioned Evans. There will be items from WI members. The compere will be Heini Jones. Tickets are £6.
