Age Concern Pembrokeshire has become Age Cymru Pembrokeshire

A Pembrokeshire older people’s charity has changed its name and joined a national network of charities for older people.
Age Concern Pembrokeshire’s new name is Age Cymru Pembrokeshire and it has become a member of the Age Cymru family of charities.
Commenting on the change, Age Cymru Pembrokeshire’s Chief Officer Jane Slade says:
“This is a very exciting time for us and a time of change.
“After over 20 years as Age Concern Pembrokeshire, Age Cymru Pembrokeshire will continue to provide support and services for people in the area.
“Local people will still be able to access our free, confidential, information and advice service and be supported by our befriending scheme and carer support programme.
“We will also continue to provide our ‘Home from Hospital’ programme; our ‘Home Support’ service; our nail cutting service; socialisation packages and our telephone care calls.
“It goes without saying that after 20 years, we still need the support, enthusiasm and energy of our cohort of volunteers, and Age Cymru Pembrokeshire always welcomes individuals who want to come and volunteer with us.
“Being part of Age Cymru will give us the opportunity to work together with a country-wide network of local Age Cymru organisations, as well as the national charity Age Cymru to provide a wealth of benefits and opportunities for older people.”
Age Cymru Pembrokeshire’s new website is live, and the organisation is in the process of changing its signage and livery.
Age Cymru Pembrokeshire is the latest organisation to become a member of the Age Cymru network – a local Age Cymru partner.
Each local Age Cymru partner is an independent charity rooted in its own local community.
Age Cymru’s Chief Executive Officer Ian Thomas, says:
“Age Cymru Pembrokeshire is a fantastic charity and I am delighted that it has decided to join the Age Cymru network as a key partner to deliver our goal of improving later life for all.
“Age Cymru Pembrokeshire will remain an independent organisation providing the vital, high-quality services direct to older people in Pembrokeshire on which Age Concern Pembrokeshire built its excellent reputation.
“The combined strength, knowledge and know-how of Age Cymru Pembrokeshire and Age Cymru will provide strength and security in these difficult times and help us make life better for older people across Wales.”
Age Cymru is the organisation created by the merger of Age Concern Cymru and Help the Aged in Wales in 2009.
