Magpies in Carmarthen help toybox appeal

Magpies gift shop in Carmarthen is offering 10 per cent off gifts donated to the Christmas Toybox Appeal.
A letter was sent to all local business asking if they were able to help support Carmarthenshire County Council’s Toybox Appeal. Generous business owner Andy James of Magpies gift shop, Carmarthen wanted to show his support by offering 10 per cent off to customers who bought a gift in the shop for the Christmas Toybox Appeal.
Founded last year, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Christmas Toybox Appeal is a local initiative which provides Christmas gifts for families in need.
Last year, the Christmas Toybox Appeal collected and distributed over 700 gifts, benefitting disadvantaged families across Carmarthenshire.
Deputy council leader Cllr Pam Palmer said: “We want to do all we can to help families who cannot afford new toys for their children at Christmas. The intention is to help them avoid going into debt or going to loan sharks to bankroll presents.
“The more toys people donate the more help we can provide for people who need it most. After all, Christmas is a time for giving and thinking of others, I hope people will be generous and help make a real difference for many families who are struggling at this time of year.”
You can show your support by donating a gift at one of our many collection points set up all around the county. For more information on Carmarthenshire’s County Councils Christmas Toybox Appeal please visitwww.carmarthenshire.gov.uk
