Exciting South Wales singing scholarships for children


If you dream of singing on stage, in theatres, concert halls or even television, then a prestigious regional Performance Singing Scholarships may be music to your ears!
Performance Singing Scholarships for 2013 are now open to all children age 8 to 14 years from the South Wales region.
The goals of the Scholarships are to provide expert individual tuition and performance experience to girls and boys who have a strong interest and enthusiasm for singing and performance to help build their skills and confidence and develop their talent and true potential.
Performance Singing Scholarships awards exist for young people age 8 to 11 years and for children age 12 to 14 years.
The Scholarships are sponsored by the Hywel Girls’ Choir & Hywel Boy Singers and Hywel Williams Foundation.
The winner of each Scholarship will be awarded a six -month course of weekly individual singing tutorials by a professional singing performance expert, group singing and concert experience, potential opportunity for individual live solo concert and performance experience.
The winner will also enjoy public recognition of the award and future references for academic of career development opportunities.
The personal course of music tuition for each award winner will be tailored to classical, musical theatre and pop style, study programmes for Royal Music Schools, coaching for classical, stage or musical theatre performance or music festivals and auditions, music theory and aural training for vocal development.
“The Performance Singing Scholarships are an exciting opportunity for provide valuable support, training and education for young people from the South Wales region passionate about singing and performing”, explains Helen Roberts-Jones, Chair of the Hywel Williams Foundation and Tutor at the acclaimed Kings’ College Choir School, Cambridge.
“It provides a strong foundation of trained skills and experience on which to potentially build a future talent and potential.”
Closing date for applicants is 1 December 2012. Selected applicants will be invited to an interview and audition with a professional selection panel. The Scholarships commence from January 2013.
Applicants must be between the ages of 8 to 14 as of 1 January 2013 and live within a 40-mile radius of Llanelli.
