New ‘quality mark’ for QualitySolicitors Redkite legal aid services
The team at QualitySolicitors Redkite, the biggest law firm in West Wales, has just been awarded a new ‘quality mark’ for legal aid services.
The firm has received the Specialist Quality Mark (SQM), a benchmark first introduced in 2002 as a quality management system for legal aid providers.
It is part of a family of standards that aims to enable legal services providers and organisations to demonstrate that they are well-managed, provide good levels of client care and have systems in place to ensure delivery of good quality advice.
Managing Partner Luke Smith said he was delighted with the SQM award.
“A great deal of hard work and effort goes into securing benchmark awards like SQM and the team at QualitySolicitors Redkite deserve praise for their efforts.
“Of course, the main aim of securing a ‘quality mark’ such as this is to demonstrate to customers that we do exactly ‘what it says on the tin’ when it comes to delivering legal aid services.”
The legal aid scheme in England and Wales is run by the Legal Services Commission (LSC). The LSC works in partnership with solicitors and not-for-profit organisations to provide information, advice and legal representation to people in need.
The LSC also makes sure that people get the information, advice and legal help they need to deal with a wide range of problems. The vision is to make sure clients can access the help they need to address their legal problems. Each year, the LSC helps more than two million people to deal with their legal problems.
Compliance with a recognised quality standard (currently either the SQM or Lexcel, The Law Society’s practice management standard) is a requirement for organisations that have, or are seeking to obtain, an LSC contract to deliver legal advice services.
There are many benefits for any organisation achieving SQM –
