Award-winning Bwcabus scheme extended

The triple award winning Bwcabus scheme has been extended to cover areas from Llanybydder to Llangeitho and from Lampeter to Nebo.
There are more than 1,200 registered users now using Bwcabus which has transported its passengers over 30,000 times.
Bwcabus can provide journeys so that its passengers can get to work and school, visit their doctors and dentists, and connect with the main bus services so that they can visit the larger towns of Carmarthen, Cardigan and Aberystwyth.
Passengers can visit friends and family in areas of the Bwcabus zone they may not have previously been able to get to if they do not have access to a car.
New fixed timetabled routes have been added in the extension area which commenced on February 27 adding to a number of routes that the scheme already operates. These services allow passengers to jump on and off the bus along the fixed routes which run through their villages.
The Bwcabus scheme has recently purchased two new fully accessible buses to improve the service within the extension area.
The project is the product of a successful partnership between Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire county councils, Traveline Cymru, the Welsh Government, the University of Glamorgan and bus operators. The revolutionary rural transport system has attracted European Regional Development Fund and Welsh Government funding enabling the service to run in rural areas.
