Help for new businesses in Carmarthenshire

A new RDP Sir Gâr scheme, Mentro, has been launched that will help those aged between 16-30 years old living in rural Carmarthenshire to start their own business.
Mentro Officers Tomas Marks and Glyn Jones will be seeking the next Alan Sugar in Rural Carmarthenshire and identifying specific mentors for each entrepreneur.
Mentro will be giving free advice and guidance on starting your own business and raising awareness of start-up loans and financial support available. They can also help with the creation of business plans and budgets.
Menter Bro Dinefwr is delivering the project through RDP Sir Gâr’s Rural Entrepreneurship scheme and the project is funded through the Rural Development Plan (RDP) for Wales 2007–2013 by the Welsh Government and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
“In light of the current economic climate and lack of jobs available this is a good opportunity to identify new initiatives and develop business ideas” says Owain Gruffydd, Chief Executive of Menter Bro Dinefwr. He believes the scheme is important for the area as it will offer the encouragement and support potential young business people need.
If you would like further details, please contact Tomas Marks (Mentro Officer) on 01558 825336 or email tomasmarks@menterbrodinefwr.org.uk.
RDP Sir Gâr have a number of other grant and support schemes available for individuals, farmers, community groups and businesses. To find out more, call Nerys Jones (RDP Officer) on 01267 242364.
