Five Star rating for Ashburnham Golf Club!

The popular Ashburnham Championship Links Golf Club in Pembrey has been given a Five Star rating for food hygiene.
And the rating has been greeted with the sort of cheers which usually follow a hole-in-one at the prestigious course.
“We are known the world over for the standard of our golf. Now we are making our mark as a first class venue for food,” said club manager Huw Morgan.
Chef Martin Bartley, pictured above, was also delighted with the rating, which followed a surprise visit and inspection by Carmarthenshire Council, the authority which runs the hygiene ratings in partnership with the Food Standards Agency.
“The visit by the inspectors was unannounced so they had to take us as they found us.
“Here at The Ashburnham, we take a great pride in the quality of our food, using plenty of locally-sourced produce to produce varied menus.
“Food hygiene is top of the agenda in my kitchen and the award of a Five Star certificate for The Ashburnham Golf Club reflects great credit on my team here.”
Club manager Mr Morgan agreed. “Our chef Martin has become a great asset for the golf club and all the members are delighted that his hard work has received such excellent recognition.
“It’s also worth reminding everyone that ‘The Ash’ is more than just a golf club. It can be a great venue for special occasions and parties and we are now taking bookings for Christmas and the New Year.
“We have also set up an exclusive Dining Club.
“We are a members club and we are conscious of the fact that people who aren’t members don’t often get the chance to see the fabulous facilities we have on offer here at The Ashburnham.
“We want to be able to cater for as many people as possible. So, with that in mind, we have launched a special Dining Club for those who don’t want to take up golf membership, but would like to take advantage of our first class facilities.”
Dining Club membership at The Ashburnham is just £5 a year. It allows Dining Club members to bring up to three guests into the dining room and bar area of the clubhouse.
The dining room is open seven days a week up to 6pm. Dinner parties and functions can be booked in advance at other times.

The food hygiene scheme helps people choose where to eat out or shop for food by giving you information about the hygiene standards in restaurants, pubs, cafes, takeaways, hotels, supermarkets and food shops. The scheme is run by local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in partnership with the Food Standards Agency.
Each business is given a ‘hygiene rating’ when it is inspected by a food safety officer from the local authority. The hygiene rating shows how closely the business is meeting the requirements of food hygiene law.
When you eat out or shop for food, you might see a sticker in the window or on the door, or a certificate on display, showing you the hygiene rating for that business. Businesses are encouraged to display these stickers and certificates at their premises in a place where you can easily see them when you visit.
If you’re planning to eat out or buy food, you can search this website to find out if the scheme is run in your area. You can only search for hygiene ratings of businesses in areas where the scheme is run.
