Latest 'View from Richmond Park' column

The latest 'View from Richmond Park' column from the Carmarthen Journal -
The focus on involving youngsters in football at Richmond Park, Carmarthen, continues to gather pace.
This Friday sees the latest half-time mini-football match at Richmond Park – between Johnstown Primary and Ysgol y Dderwen.
Meanwhile, an appeal has gone out for ball boys and ball girls at the ground.
“Being a ball boy and ball girl at the ground is a very rewarding experience and a great way of getting involved with the club,” said Carmarthen Town Executive committee vice-chairman Robert Lloyd.
“Of course, you get free admission to the ground and the chance to meet and chat to the players.
“You also get a free burger or hotdog at half-time!”
Anyone interested in becoming a ball boy or ball girl can contact Club Chairman and Secretary Gareth (GO) Jones on 07814262656.
The mini-football match between Johnstown Primary and Ysgol y Dderwen is part of the EMC Electrical Services Community Programme and takes during half-time at the Carmarthen v Port Talbot Welsh Premier League match on Friday, November 12.
Pencilled in later in the season are matches between Peniel and Richmond Park and Model and Nantgaredig.
“We have been encouraged by the interest in the mini matches,” said Carmarthen Town AFC vice-chairman Robert Lloyd.
“But we are still keen to hear from other schools interested in taking part.
“The mini-match is part of a developing programme to help junior football and the youngsters get a great thrill from taking part in a match under floodlights on the Richmond Park pitch.
“The match against Port Talbot will be a crucial game for Town and we are expecting a bumper crowd, so there will be quite a buzz in the ground for the children.”
Any schools interested in taking part in the half-time mini-football initiative can contact – Paul Ashley-Jones, Head of Community Programme at Carmarthen Town AFC, on 07775 820864 or Phil Grice, Schools Liaison Officer, on 01267 235073.
