The latest 'View from Richmond Park' column from the Carmarthen Journal -
There’s a new look to the Carmarthen Town AFC Welsh Premier League squad this season.
So this column continues to put the spotlight on individual squad members.
LEE PHILLIPS (Defender) Date of birth: 18.03.79 former Welsh semi-pro international Lee spent five years at Cardiff City and also played with Barry Town, Forest Green and Newport. The experienced defender captained Llanelli to their first Welsh Premier title. Recent signing.
SASHA WALTERS (Midfield) 20.06.84 Now in his fifth season having made over a 100 appearances. A product of Afan Lido's youth development structure the right sided player was a member of Town’s European squads and has scored some fine individual goals.
BEN MORRIS (Midfield) A product of Town's Youth development. Having established himself as a valuable member of Deryn Brace’s squad he made his full senior debut at the end of last season.
COREY THOMAS (Midfield) 30.11.89 A product of Afan Lido’s Youth development programme. The lively midfielder impressed Deryn Brace last season before signing during the summer. A Welsh Boys Club international he made his League debut in the first game of the season.
STEVE EVANS (Midfield) 25.09.80 Wales Under-21 international. Made Crystal Palace debut in February 1999 before joining Swansea City on loan and then signing on a free transfer for Brentford in 2002 making 48 league appearances. Had spells at Woking and Crawley before signing for Llanelli in January 2008. Signed for Town in June 2010.
LEE JENKINS (Midfield) 28.06.79 A Welsh schoolboy and U21 international. Progressed through the Swansea City youth set-up to regular first team football before moving to Kidderminster Harriers and taking his total of league appearances beyond 200. Signed for Newport County in October 2005 after a brief spell at Redditch United. Joined Caersws in the summer of 2009.
