Carmarthenshire search for debt experts
Organisations that offer help and advice to people on debt, money management and benefits are being asked to come forward.
Advice Support Carmarthenshire (ASC), which includes representatives from several Carmarthenshire County Council departments and partner organisations such as Age Cymru, Citizen’s Advice and CAVS, is undertaking a mapping exercise to identify the help available for local residents.
The group has put together a questionnaire for interested parties to respond to.
It seeks to gather evidence of the work currently being done in Carmarthenshire on debt and poverty.
Feedback to the questionnaire should enable ASC to put together a comprehensive map of services so that people can be easily and quickly directed when in need of support.
Cllr Kevin Madge, chair of the ASC and the county’s Anti Poverty Champion, said: “It is important that we have a comprehensive overview of the support services that are out there.
“We know there are many organisations that provide valuable advice and guidance on debts and benefits to people of all walks of life, and we would like to be able to direct people in need of support to these various organisations quickly.
“There are many people in Carmarthenshire who are struggling financially, but who may be too proud to ask for help. We need people to come to seek help before their problems escalate.”
Information gathered from the questionnaire will also be used to plan future services, and to assist in funding bids.
The overall aim of ASC is to reduce the affects of poverty in the county.
